A man in Şirince, İzmir sold olives for 50 TL per piece and 1,000 TL per kilogram. The man defended the price as normal, saying, "The seller claims the olive is medicinal."
The price of olives sold at a stall in the touristic village of Şirince, affiliated with İzmir's Selçuk district, astonished onlookers.
ONE THOUSAND TL PER KILO
At the stall, which attracted the attention of local and foreign tourists visiting the region, olives were offered for sale at 50 lira per piece and 1,000 lira per kilogram. These prices, far exceeding those of ordinary olives, sparked great curiosity on social media and among shoppers.
'OLIVE IS HEALING'
The olive seller, defending the price as normal, claimed that the product was special and carried great healing properties for health. This sale, outside conventional pricing policies, was met with prolonged astonishment among tourists in the village, due to both its high cost and the significant imbalance between the per-piece and per-kilogram prices.
