The killer who murdered his friend sent his victim's cell phone to his own son to use. The shocking incident came to light with the signal taken from the deceased person's cell phone.

IDENTITY OF THE DECAYING CORPSE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED

Murat Arlı, who worked as a beggar at the bus station, went missing on December 16, 2023. When Arlı's family couldn't reach him, they filed a missing person report. On March 10, a male body wrapped in a blanket was found washed up on the beach in Tabaklar neighborhood, located in the Karataş district.

The Homicide Bureau of the Security Branch Directorate affiliated with the Adana Police Department started following the case, considering that the male body washed ashore could be the missing person Murat Arlı. The body found on the shore was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy. Due to the body being in the water for a long time, the cause of death could not be determined.

IDENTITY DETERMINED THROUGH DNA TEST

Despite the cause of death not being determined, the detectives did not give up the investigation due to the discovery of a body wrapped in a blanket. The Homicide Detectives had a DNA test conducted between the missing person Murat Arlı and his son Fırat Arlı at the Forensic Medicine Institute. After the DNA test, it was determined that the body belonged to Murat Arlı.

After determining that the body belonged to Arlı, the detectives went to the bus station and started investigating the incident by examining the security camera footage. The detectives, who traced the location of Arlı's cell phone, determined that it was being used by a person in Kars. After the investigation, it was revealed that the person using the phone was the son of Atilla Cücü, a friend who lived with Arlı at the bus station.

After contacting Atilla Cücü's son, the detectives determined that his father had sent him the phone to use through cargo. As a result, on July 23, 5 people were arrested and detained in operations carried out in Adana and Kars. The 5 suspects were interrogated at the police station. Atilla Cücü, Arlı's friend, allegedly confessed to committing the murder in a moment of anger.

Cücü allegedly said, "I was drunk, and in a moment of anger, I beat my friend to death. Then I wrapped the body in a blanket and threw it into the drainage canal with my motorcycle. I deeply regret it." After the procedures at the police station, the 5 suspects were referred to the courthouse. Atilla Cücü, who confessed to the crime, was arrested by the court, while the other 4 individuals were released under judicial control.
