In the Manavgat district of Antalya, a village house became unusable in a fire that broke out while homeowner Kerim Aydilek was trying to burn wood with gasoline in the fireplace. Aydilek, who suffered burns on various parts of his body, was taken to Serik State Hospital. During the fire, a frightened puppy hid among the trees, while a rooster did not come down from a tree. The neighborhood headman called for a fire station to be urgently established in the area.
A fire that broke out in a village house described as masonry in Manavgat rendered the house unusable. The homeowner, who was determined to have caused the fire while trying to light the stove, was injured.
FOREST CREWS ALSO SUPPORTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT
The fire broke out in Taşağıl Neighborhood of Manavgat district. Upon a report received by the 112 Emergency Call Center, the Manavgat Unit of the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, Taşağıl Gendarmerie Station, and 112 medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Teams from the Taşağıl Forest Management Directorate also supported the firefighting teams responding to the fire.
Because the roof and most of the interior of the house were made of wood, the flames spread quickly and the house became unusable.
FIRE BROKE OUT WHILE TRYING TO BURN WOOD WITH GASOLINE
It was learned that the fire broke out when the homeowner, Kerim Aydilek, was trying to burn wood with gasoline in the fireplace section of the house, and the fire suddenly flared up and spread to the items in the room. Aydilek, who suffered burns on various parts of his body, was taken to Serik State Hospital after the medical teams’ initial intervention at the scene.
DOG HID, ROOSTER DID NOT COME DOWN FROM TREE
During the fire, the puppy tied with a chain in the garden of the house went among the trees next to its kennel in fear and could not come out for a long time. The small dog came out of its hiding place after its owner arrived. It was observed that the rooster, which had climbed a tree out of fear of the fire, did not come down from the tree even though the fire was extinguished.
HEADMAN CALLS FOR FIRE STATION
Taşağıl Neighborhood Headman Ali Aksoy, who followed the firefighting efforts, said, “The large surface area of our neighborhood, the very extensive forest areas, as well as the new Antalya-Konya road passing through our neighborhood and frequent accidents have now made it inevitable to establish a fire station in our neighborhood. A fire station should be established in our neighborhood urgently.”
