On the morning of April 23, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in Istanbul, causing moments of fear not only in the city but also in surrounding provinces. While citizens spent the night in parks, schools, and sports halls after the tremor centered in Silivri, viewers at home experienced a different kind of horror.
PANICKED MOMENTS
Many live broadcast programs were ongoing at the time of the earthquake. One of those programs was "Everything in Life" with Nur Viral, broadcasted on Beyaz TV. Host Nur Viral was caught in the earthquake live on air. The moment she first noticed the tremor, she panicked and said, "Oh! Did an earthquake happen?" for a while not knowing what to do. Unable to hold back her tears in front of the cameras, the host shared her feelings after the tremor with the following words: "At that moment, only my daughter came to my mind. I wonder what she is doing, is she scared... May God help everyone."
Another person caught live during the earthquake was tv100 anchor Oya Çebi. While chatting with her guest during the news bulletin, Çebi experienced a brief moment of panic on air when she felt the tremor in the studio.
