The heavy downpour that hit Istanbul led to moments of terror in Sarıyer's Ayazağa Neighborhood. As floodwaters swept away parked vehicles, a citizen caught in the middle of the current climbed up to the window of a building to save his life. Those dangerous moments were recorded second by second on a mobile phone camera.
Rain that started in Istanbul in the morning and intensified toward evening caused flooding in Sarıyer. In the Ayazağa neighborhood, streets and alleys filled with floodwaters while parked cars were swept away by the current.
HE SAVED HIS LIFE BY CLIMBING TO THE WINDOW
As the water accumulating in the street swept vehicles along, a local resident in the area also faced danger.
Trying to get away from both the floodwaters and the cars being swept along by the current, the resident managed to pull himself to a safe point by climbing to the window of a nearby building.
