Unbelievable incident in Klang! A young woman jumped out of a taxi and stopped traffic. The woman, who jumped onto the asphalt due to anxiety, narrowly prevented a disaster. An investigation has been launched regarding the driver.
In the Klang region of Malaysia, on the morning of May 1st around 09:30, an unbelievable incident occurred that made waves in the world press. Traffic came to a sudden halt when a young woman abruptly threw herself onto the road from a red taxi traveling on a federal highway.
The details that emerged after the incident astonished those who heard them. According to a statement by North Klang District Police Chief Vijaya Rao, the unnamed young woman claimed that the taxi driver was looking at her through the rearview mirror 'for no reason and in a disturbing manner.'
Experiencing anxiety and a panic attack, the passenger felt her life was not safe inside the vehicle, opened the door, and flung herself onto the asphalt. Dashcam footage from the moment of the incident clearly reveals the severity of the situation. In the images, her shoes and phone can be seen scattering onto the road as she leaps from the vehicle.
Vehicles coming from behind narrowly avoided hitting the woman by braking suddenly, preventing a potential tragedy. Falling face-first onto the road, the woman, despite the shock, got up and began running barefoot behind the taxi.
At that moment, a helpful driver nearby intervened as the passenger approached another woman who had exited the vehicle after the incident.
The slightly injured young woman was taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.
Investigation Launched into the Driver
Following the incident, the 47-year-old taxi driver canceled the trip and immediately reported the situation to the police.
While the driver filed a complaint to protect himself, police teams launched a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Under Article 336 of the Malaysian Penal Code, the driver, who may face charges of 'endangering life or personal safety,' is being investigated to determine whether he engaged in intentional harassment.
The Dark Side of Digital Transformation: 'Robotic Hell' in Driverless Taxis
While this incident raises safety concerns in transportation involving human factors, on the other side of the coin, autonomous vehicle technologies are also facing major tests.
The 'robotaxi chaos' in Wuhan, China last month once again proved that the technology is not yet perfect. Due to a system failure on a six-lane highway, approximately 100 passengers were stranded inside driverless vehicles.
The 'Driving system failure' warning appearing on in-vehicle screens and non-functional SOS buttons caused a two-hour nightmare for passengers. In contrast to the passengers in the Malaysia incident who fled from a 'human gaze,' passengers in China were trapped inside a 'soulless system.'
