In Kayseri, lawyer Emin Burak Kekeç, who stated that a 140,000 TL fine was issued to him for allegedly "cutting lanes" with his vehicle while he was sleeping at home, had the fine annulled after his objection. Kekeç, who said he proved he was at home at the time the fine was issued through security camera footage, advised citizens to pursue legal remedies in such situations and said, "They should never hesitate to seek their rights."

Attorney Emin Burak Kekeç, registered with the Kayseri Bar Association, received a notification on his mobile phone on February 20 as he was leaving his home in the morning. Checking the notification, Kekeç saw that he had been fined 140,000 TL for allegedly cutting off his vehicle with his car at 08:00. Stating that he was asleep at home at that time, Kekeç appealed to the Kayseri Criminal Court of Peace. Kekeç, who submitted security camera footage of his car parked in front of the building as evidence, had his fine canceled.

SUBMITTED CAMERA FOOTAGE

Kekeç stated that when he got into his car at 09:00, he saw a penalty notification on e-Government for cutting off traffic, under the article 'Endangering traffic safety', and said, "Regarding this, I tried to collect the security camera footage of the complex where I live to prove that I was not at the location where the penalty was issued during that time period. Eventually, an investigation was initiated after I applied to the Kayseri Criminal Court of Peace."

FINE CANCELED

Kekeç, noting that the court canceled the fine based on the evidence, said, "It is clearly visible from the security camera footage. The penalty was applied to me at 08:00. I left the house at 08:55. So, I was sleeping at 08:00."

"DO NOT HESITATE TO SEEK YOUR RIGHTS"

Stating that citizens facing such situations should seek their rights, Kekeç said, "If they believe they are right regarding such traffic fines or administrative penalties written against them, they must process the procedure and use all appeal authorities. Never hesitate to seek your rights."
