In the discussions regarding the investigations that led to the detention of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, there was significant tension. AK Party and CHP deputies confronted each other, while a CHP deputy threw a bottle in the general assembly. During the moments when a major brawl broke out in the assembly, it did not go unnoticed that AK Party member Osman Gökçek watched the tension with a smile while his hands were tied behind his back.
After the detention order was issued for 106 people, including Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, and the detention of 87 individuals, tensions rose in the Parliament. While opposition parties protested İmamoğlu's detention, the General Assembly of the Parliament was postponed yesterday. Today, tensions flared up again.

AK Party deputy Mustafa Hakan Özer spoke about the recent operations while there was movement among the CHP ranks. Özer stated, "You are uncomfortable with the charges brought against you in these investigations. Or do you have other fears?"

After CHP Group Deputy Chairman Ali Mahir Başarır threw a bottle towards the AK Party ranks in response to these remarks, a fight broke out. While CHP members expressed their reactions by banging on the benches, a verbal dispute occurred between the groups of the two parties.

During the peak moments of tension in the Parliament, the attitude of AK Party Ankara Deputy Osman Gökçek did not go unnoticed. Gökçek was seen smiling and watching the events unfold with his hands tied behind his back while the deputies were clashing with each other.
