North Korean leader Kim Jong-un observed on-site tests of strategic cruise missiles, artillery, and electronic warfare systems conducted aboard the 5,000-ton Kang Kon destroyer. After the tests, Kim ordered the ship to be put into active naval service within two months and instructed that the country's deterrence capacity and combat capability be further strengthened.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un oversaw weapons systems tests conducted on the 5,000-ton Kang Kon destroyer, one of the country's next-generation warships.
According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim closely monitored tests of various weapons systems, including a strategic cruise missile with nuclear strike capability on board the vessel.
STRATEGIC MISSILE AND ELECTRONIC WARFARE SYSTEMS TESTED
During the trials, in addition to the strategic cruise missile, artillery systems were fired, and electronic warfare systems along with target detection and data processing capabilities were evaluated.
It was stated that the tests were conducted to verify the effectiveness of different weapons systems on the destroyer under combat conditions.
ORDER TO "BEGIN DUTY WITHIN TWO MONTHS"
Following the weapons tests, Kim Jong-un demanded that the trials of the 5,000-ton Kang Kon destroyer be completed and that it begin active service in the North Korean navy within two months.
Kim also ordered an increase in efforts to strengthen the country's deterrent capabilities and combat readiness.
