A woman who is a mother of three in Trabzon experienced the shock of her life when she learned at the family health center, where she went to obtain a health report, that she has been registered as deceased in the health system for the past seven years. Although she is listed as "alive" in the population registry, the woman believes there may have been an error in the hospital records due to the fact that she gave birth to a stillborn baby seven years ago. The 30-year-old woman is now trying to prove that she is alive.
Sibel Kuştil, a mother of three who works as a chef in the Akçaabat district of Trabzon, applied to her family doctor a week ago to obtain a health report.
LEARNED SHE HAD BEEN LISTED AS 'DEAD' FOR 7 YEARS During a check-up by family medicine officials, it was determined that Kuştil had appeared as 'dead' in the health system records for 7 years. Shocked by this revelation, Kuştil went to the Provincial Health Directorate to learn more about the situation. There, she was informed that a death record had been created by a state hospital in 2018, which is why she had been listed as 'dead' in the health system for 7 years.
IN THE POPULATION RECORDS, SHE IS 'ALIVE' Kuştil, who is listed as 'alive' in the population registry, thinks that there may have been a mistake in the hospital records when she gave birth to a stillborn baby 7 years ago. Unable to get vaccinated, prescribe medication, make hospital appointments, and access the E-Nabız system, Kuştil is trying to prove that she is alive by filing applications.
"MY INFORMATION MAY HAVE BEEN ENTERED IN PLACE OF MY DEAD BABY" Describing her experiences, Kuştil said, "Last week, I needed a health report to submit to my workplace. I applied to my family doctor, but my information could not be accessed. Then I was informed that I was listed as dead in the records. Following this, I applied to the Provincial Health Directorate. We learned that a death notification had been created for me by a state hospital in 2018. Since that date, I have appeared as dead in the health system. On July 9, 2018, I gave birth to a stillborn baby in a state hospital. I think my information was entered instead of my dead baby's information. I have never encountered such a confusing situation before," she said.
"I AM A LIVING DEAD FOR YEARS" Kuştil, who stated that she gave birth to three children during the time she was listed as dead, said that she could not get vaccinated during the Covid-19 pandemic due to a 'systemic issue,' but she learned years later that this was because she appeared as dead in the records. Kuştil said, "During this time, I had three children. Until I applied to my family doctor last week, this situation had never been noticed. In 2020, I went through a risky pregnancy process. My doctor said I needed to get the Covid-19 vaccine. At that time, I was not assigned a vaccine and could not get vaccinated. When I went to the hospital for a procedure, I was told, 'there is a problem in the system, that's why it is not opening.' Now I understand that I could not get vaccinated because I appeared as dead. The only thing I know is that I am seen as dead in the health system. I have come to this day like a living dead for years. What happened, who entered this information into the system, or how has this problem not come up until now? We are astonished," she expressed.
"I EXPERIENCED THE SHOCK OF MY LIFE" Kuştil, who stated that she could not benefit from health services, said, "We have made applications and complaints to the necessary places. We have not received any results yet. If something happens to me, if I go to a hospital, I will not be able to get examined. I cannot get prescriptions from my family doctor. I cannot log into the E-Nabız system because I appear as dead. No one can understand where the error is in the system. There are many points that I cannot understand either. Everyone is very surprised, and I have experienced the shock of my life. I am worried that this may cause a problem for me in the future. I want this grievance to be resolved. I hope necessary actions will be taken," she said.
"I HAVE 3 CHILDREN FROM MY DEAD HUSBAND" Sibel Kuştil's husband, Ömer Kuştil, expressed that they are astonished by the situation, saying, "I have three children from my wife, who is said to be dead. I learned this a week ago. I am still in shock. We have been dealing with this issue for days. We are waiting in astonishment for a resolution. If we go out of town and something happens to us, if we go to a hospital, will my wife be able to receive treatment? We do not know. Our grievance in this matter is very significant. We hope it gets resolved," he said.
