The AK Party mayor of Yahşihan, Kırıkkale, Ahmet Sungur, along with seven suspects, including municipal personnel, has been detained. It has been learned that the suspects were taken into custody as part of a corruption investigation launched against the municipality. Meanwhile, Mayor Sungur has been referred to the AK Party Central Disciplinary Board with a request for expulsion.
As part of the corruption investigation initiated against the Yahşihan Municipality in Kırıkkale, Yahşihan Mayor Ahmet Sungur and 7 suspects, including municipal personnel, were taken into custody by police teams in the early hours of the morning.
FORMER MAYOR TÜRKYILMAZ WAS ARRESTED
Additionally, within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Kırıkkale Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, former Yahşihan Mayor Osman Türkyılmaz and 12 suspects were taken into custody on May 27. Among the detained suspects, Türkyılmaz and two others were arrested.
WHO IS AHMET SUNGUR?
Ahmet Sungur, born in 1971 in Kırıkkale, completed his primary and secondary education in Yahşihan and his high school education in Kırıkkale. A graduate of the Industrial Automation Department of Kırıkkale Vocational School, Sungur was appointed as a civil servant at the Yahşihan Municipality in 1989 and served as an electrical technician within the Rural Services. Sungur was elected as the Mayor of Yahşihan in the local government elections of 2009, 2014, and 2024.
