The actions of healthcare workers who were caught in a 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Istanbul while at the hospital have garnered praise. Yesterday (April 23) at 12:49 PM, a 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Silivri district in Istanbul, in the Sea of Marmara. The earthquake, which was approximately 7 km deep, lasted a total of 13 seconds. Following the tremor, 266 aftershocks were recorded.



The earthquake, which was felt in all districts of Istanbul and surrounding provinces, caused fear among the citizens. Many residents, not wanting to spend the night in their homes after the earthquake, preferred to sleep in the streets, mosques, and tents set up in recreational areas.

Healthcare workers at Çam and Sakura City Hospital in Başakşehir were caught in the earthquake while at the hospital. The healthcare workers, who did not leave the babies' side for even a moment, received praise.
