It was seen that a video featuring Mustafa Sarıgül together with 2 German businesspeople who filed complaints in the money laundering investigation into Sarıgül’s family remained on Sarıgül’s Instagram account. In the post, it was seen that Sarıgül made the Germans next to him say "Can Erzincan." Sarıgül had described the events with the complainants as a commercial dispute and argued that the allegations were untrue.
A video on the social media account of New Party Erzincan MP Mustafa Sarıgül has brought the relationship between Sarıgül and the German businesspeople who sparked the investigation back onto the agenda. The post was seen to still be live on the account.
VIDEO STILL ON HIS ACCOUNT
In the video shared on Mustafa Sarıgül's Instagram account, Kai Precat and Marc Baeriswyl, who are complainants in the investigation, are seen sitting on Sarıgül's right and left.
It was also seen that Sarıgül added the note to the post: "Green Erzincan is coming; both Germans and Dutch are saying it: Can Erzincan."
COMPLAINANTS ARE TWO GERMAN BUSINESSPEOPLE
The Germany-centered money laundering investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office began with the complaint of Kai Precat and Marc Baeriswyl, referred to in the prosecutor's statement as "German citizens K.P. and M.B." Sinan Çampınar appears in the investigation as the representative of the German businesspeople.
In the investigation, 15 people, including Mustafa Sarıgül's son Ömer Sarıgül and his ex-wife Aylin Kotil, were arrested. It was reported that the allegations concerning Sarıgül would be sent to the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for separate evaluation.
SARIGÜL: A COMMERCIAL DISPUTE
In a statement on October 16, Mustafa Sarıgül said the matter was a "commercial business dispute." Describing the complainants' allegations as "untrue," Sarıgül questioned the source and accuracy of the documents presented. Emphasizing that no one should be declared guilty without a finalized judicial decision, Sarıgül stated that his family members would share all documents with the investigation authorities.
AUDIO RECORDING ALSO IN THE FILE
An audio recording of a meeting allegedly held between Sarıgül and Çampınar, the representative of the German businesspeople, has also entered the file. In the recording, Sarıgül is alleged to have said, "No one would do the treachery İmamoğlu did to us; don't you worry."
AĞIREL WAS ALSO ARRESTED
In the same investigation, journalist Murat Ağırel was arrested on October 19 on charges of "aiding an organization without being a member." It is alleged that Ağırel passed documents he received from the German complainants to the Sarıgül family instead of reporting on them.
In his statement, Ağırel argued that he had a video meeting with the Germans arranged by Çampınar, but did not publish a news story because he determined that the documents sent to him were fake. Stating that he had no connection with the Sarıgül family, Ağırel said, "At most, I would be a witness in this file."
