In the betting investigation, Galatasaray football player Metehan Baltacı, who was referred to the court with a request for arrest, stated in his testimony at the prosecutor's office that he did not place bets related to the teams he played for. However, he confessed that he had placed bets regarding the yellow-red team while on loan at clubs he was sent to from Galatasaray.
39 suspects, including football players, club officials, and referees, who were detained as part of the 'Betting' and 'Match-Fixing' investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, were referred to the courthouse after a health check. Among the suspects, 29 people, including Metehan Baltacı, Murat Sancak, Alassane Ndao, Mert Hakan Yandaş, Ahmet Okatan, Mehmet Emin Katipoğlu, and Ümit Kaya, were referred to the Duty Magistrate's Court with a request for arrest. Meanwhile, 10 suspects were referred to the Magistrate's Court with a request for judicial control. The prosecutor's statements of Metehan Baltacı, who was referred for arrest, have emerged.
METEHAN BALTACI: I NEVER PLACED A BET FOR ANY TEAM I WORE THE JERSEY OF
Galatasaray player Metehan Baltacı stated, "I have never made any transactions on any illegal betting site in any way. Furthermore, no one has made any transactions on such sites in my name. I have no connection with the illegal betting site mentioned to me. The image shared in the messaging group belongs to another friend of mine. The image in question is from 2021. As far as I remember, I opened a membership on a legal site in 2021. I do not know how many times I placed bets, but I have never placed a bet on behalf of any team whose jersey I wore. I also had no contact with the players in the matches I bet on. It is out of the question for me to engage in match-fixing. As can be seen in the message contents, I was asking my friends about the team in many bets; if I were to engage in match-fixing, such conversations would not be possible. I was given an administrative penalty by the TFF due to my placing of bets. However, the content of this penalty is due to my betting and does not involve any allegations of match-fixing," he said.

A detail in Baltacı's statement drew attention. It was learned that Baltacı admitted to betting on Galatasaray in the clubs he was loaned to from Galatasaray.
