The Customs Protection teams of the Ministry of Trade carried out a historic operation. In an operation conducted at the Gürbulak Customs Gate in Ağrı, a total of 1 ton and 870 kilograms of methamphetamine, soaked in coal, was seized in a single instance.
The Ministry of Trade announced that 1 ton and 870 kilograms of methamphetamine, impregnated in coal, was seized during an operation at the Gürbulak Border Gate in Ağrı.
In a statement made by the Ministry, it was said, "The Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Trade have achieved another significant success in the fight against smuggling. In the operation carried out at the Gürbulak Customs Gate in Ağrı, 1 ton and 870 kilograms of methamphetamine, a type of narcotic substance impregnated in coal, was seized in a single operation. Acting with the vision of making the 'Century of Turkey' the century of trade, the Ministry of Trade continues to strengthen both its human and technical capacity in the fight against smuggling. It was determined that the market value of the drugs seized in this operation, conducted as a result of targeting studies carried out with specialized personnel and advanced risk analysis systems, is approximately 5 billion 609 million Turkish liras. An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Doğubayazıt Chief Public Prosecutor's Office," it was stated.
"A 234% INCREASE IN DRUG SEIZURES"
It was noted that the successful efforts of the Customs Enforcement teams of the Ministry of Trade throughout 2025 reached a historic level in June, stating, "With the latest seizure in Gürbulak, a total of 17 tons and 144 kilograms of narcotics, valued at 19 billion 911 million 394 thousand 573 Turkish liras, have been seized. These figures indicate a 234% increase compared to the previous period, reaching the highest level ever. As the Ministry of Trade, we will continue to resolutely prevent illegal trade processes," it was stated.
