The Mayor of Ankara, Mansur Yavaş, opened the T.C. Long Live the Republic Tunnel, specially prepared for the 101st anniversary of the Republic, for a visit at Gençlik Park. While answering journalists' questions about current issues, Yavaş made striking evaluations regarding MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli's invitation to the PKK terrorist organization's leader to make a speech in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and call for the organization to lay down arms. Regarding the new claims of a resolution process, Yavaş stated, "If there is a plan or project, it needs to be presented to the public and shared with the parties that have a group in the Assembly," and commented on President Erdoğan's silence following Bahçeli's statements, saying, "The fact that the President has not said anything seems to indicate that another wing has been activated." Highlights from Yavaş's statements; "There are statements that are beyond human imagination every time. I would say that I do not agree with such statements. If we are a rule of law, everything done must be in accordance with the law. If there is a plan or project regarding this, it should be discussed in the Assembly by the representatives. Some things need to be asked to the public as well. "SOCIETY HAS SUFFERED A LOT ON THIS ISSUE"It is not possible for someone to forgive a crime committed against another. Society has suffered a lot on this issue. If there were no will for common living, this society would have long since divided. I think these have harmed the will for common living. If there is a plan or project, it needs to be presented to the public and shared with the parties that have a group in the Assembly. "NO ONE CAN DECIDE ON THEIR OWN"Our unitary structure can never be allowed to change. It is not possible for anyone to make a decision on their own regarding this matter. The Turkish nation and their representatives, the members of parliament, are the ones who will decide this. I am waiting to see if a hand will be raised in the upcoming group meeting, I am really curious about what will be said. Because there are events we never expected... "NO NEED FOR NEW ADVENTURES"According to a report published yesterday, society was quite hurt by this demand. Taking the terrorist leader as a counterpart is against the legal system. Legitimacy can only be sought in the TBMM. The fact that the President has not said anything seems to indicate that another wing has been activated. The previous resolution process did not succeed; while saying we will solve it, they made it worse. The blood of about 800 soldiers and police still remains there. There is no need for new adventures. If there is something, it should come to the TBMM, and then it should be asked to the Turkish nation. No one has the right to impose anything on Turkey; the final word belongs to the Turkish nation."
