The family of Turkish cook İlker Lazoğlu, who lost his life in the attack off the coast of Russia's Novorossiysk Port, recounted the events. Lazoğlu's uncle, Faruk Lazoğlu, said, 'I spoke with him when the Ural ship was bombed. He said, "Don't worry, nothing is wrong, stay calm. No one has been injured right now." He said they were waiting for help. After that, we lost contact. The ship he boarded again that night was bombed.'

The family of Turkish cook İlker Lazoğlu (47), who lost his life in an attack off the coast of Russia's Novorossiysk Port, recounted the events. Lazoğlu's uncle, Faruk Lazoğlu, said his nephew was evacuated from the previously attacked ship named "Necibe," but lost his life when the ship "Ural," where he was located, was also struck.

"WHEN THE SHIP WAS BOMBED, MY NEPHEW CALLED ME"

As attacks on commercial ships in the Black Sea continue, the RoRo ship named "Ural," which rescued 18 sailors from the cargo ship "Necibe" hit by a drone, was also attacked off Novorossiysk. One sailor lost his life in the attack, and 8 people were injured.

Faruk Lazoğlu, the uncle of head cook İlker Lazoğlu who died in the attack, stated that his nephew called him when the "Necibe" ship was struck, saying, "He was the head cook on the Necibe ship. He called me when the ship was bombed. He said he was alive and told me not to worry. He said another ship would come soon to rescue him and that he would transfer to that ship."

"TWO DAYS LATER I CALLED HIM, I COULDN'T REACH HIM"

Lazoğlu, stating that his nephew was later evacuated to the "Ural" ship, said, "Two days later, I called him. I couldn't reach him; his phones were off. I spoke with a company official. He said he was fine, had no issues, and they would send him back by plane. However, after a while, we couldn't get any news again."

Lazoğlu, explaining that he learned his nephew was taken onto the "Ural" ship and that the ship was also attacked, said, "Yesterday around 6-7 PM, an official called me from his own phone. He said they had taken İlker onto the ship named Ural, but the ship was bombed again, and my nephew was seriously injured in this attack. We didn't sleep until morning. Later, we learned that my nephew had lost his life."

"DON'T WORRY, STAY CALM"

Lazoğlu, stating that he spoke with his nephew on the phone during the attack on the "Ural" ship, said, "I spoke with him when the Ural ship was bombed. He said, 'Don't worry, nothing is wrong, stay calm. No one is injured right now.' He said they were waiting for help. Later, our contact was cut off. The ship he boarded again is being bombed that night."

Uncle Faruk Lazoğlu, noting that İlker Lazoğlu, who had been working on ships for about 10-15 years, lived in Istanbul but his family was in Samsun, said his nephew had two daughters.
