Following the resignation of 28 Party Assembly members in CHP, a striking statement came from Zeynel Emre, spokesperson for Özgür Özel's administration. Arguing that the Party Assembly and Central Executive Board have collapsed, Emre said, "Not convening the congress after this point is a crime." Özel's camp claimed that the party leadership cannot make any decisions other than convening the congress.

Following the resignation earthquake in the CHP, the crisis within the party has escalated to a new level. As discussions continue over whether the Party Assembly and Central Executive Board have collapsed after 28 Party Assembly members close to Özgür Özel resigned, a striking statement came from Özel's camp.

Speaking at the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Zeynel Emre, the spokesperson for the Özgür Özel administration, argued that an extraordinary congress has now become inevitable after these developments.

"FAILING TO CALL A CONGRESS IS A CRIME"

Emre stated that they planned to attend the Party Assembly meeting to express their views but made a different decision due to recent developments.

Claiming that the party administration has referred some individuals to the disciplinary board, Emre said, "From this point on, not calling a congress is a crime. If our colleagues who remain there insist on this, they would also commit the crime of unlawfully assuming duties."

"THEY CAN ONLY MAKE DECISIONS TO LEAD THE PARTY TO A CONGRESS"

Zeynel Emre argued that the remaining administration's authority is limited under the current circumstances, stating, "They cannot take any action or make any decision other than leading the party to a congress."

Emre's statements have further intensified the debate over an extraordinary congress in the CHP.

DISPUTE OVER THE BYLAW ARTICLE

Özel's camp argues that with the resignation of 28 Party Assembly members, the number of PA members has fallen below the critical threshold, making it mandatory under Article 24/3 of the CHP Bylaw to hold a congress within 45 days.

The article states that if the number of Party Assembly members drops below two-thirds of the full number, the Chairman must convene a congress within 45 days.

ALL EYES ON NEXT STEPS IN CHP

With the absolute nullity decision, expulsions, congress calls, and the recent resignations, political tension in the CHP has reached its peak. As the power struggle between the two wings within the party is expected to intensify further in the coming days, all eyes are on both the legal process and the congress debates.
