During the foundation excavation of an ongoing construction in Bahçelievler, findings considered to be of historical nature were discovered. Construction work has been halted. A decision on whether the construction will continue will be made after further evaluations.
During the foundation excavation initiated for the construction of a building undergoing urban transformation on Başak Street, Siyavuşpaşa Neighborhood, Bahçelievler, workers came across findings they believed to be of historical significance. Upon reporting the situation to the authorities, work at the construction site was halted.
"A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPENED A FEW YEARS AGO"
Aynur Aytır, one of the neighborhood tradespeople, said, "I am also a neighbor in the adjacent building. A few days ago, a door was found, and it was said to be a historical artifact. Construction was stopped. The mukhtar and the mayor, everyone came and confirmed this. Right now, there is fear in our building and fear in that building as well. Residents are worried about what will happen—will construction be halted, will it continue, or will it spread to the adjacent building? A similar incident also occurred a few years ago, to my knowledge; the building was halted for 7 years, and then construction resumed. We are now waiting to see what the outcome will be. Whether that door has more to it or if it's just that entrance part, we think the state will now investigate and find out."
"CONSTRUCTION HALTED"
Neighborhood resident Yüksel Deniz said, "It's already obvious where the historical artifact is; this construction was halted because of it. Teams needed to come and examine it, so they are waiting for that reason." Abbas Aydın, another neighborhood resident, said, "I pass by here every day. I also work in constructions. It's the building of people we know. They suddenly stopped. The situation is this: it was halted because historical artifacts were found. They haven't been working for about 10-15 days."
