CRITICAL MEETING WITH THE AMBASSADOR Uganda's Foreign Affairs Minister Odongo Jeje Abubakhar met with Turkey's Ambassador to Kampala, Mehmet Fatih Ak. During the meeting, which took place after the statements that drew reaction, messages were given regarding the enhancement of relations between the two countries.
In a statement after the meeting, Abubakhar said, "Turkey-Uganda relations will remain strong. I wish to meet with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Antalya. We want to strengthen and advance our relations."
The Ugandan Minister also expressed his desire to attend the diplomacy forum to be held in Antalya on April 17.

COOPERATION MESSAGE FROM TURKEY Ambassador Mehmet Fatih Ak also stated that Turkey wishes to support Uganda, particularly in the field of education, and highlighted that cooperation could be increased in line with mutual interests.
CONTROVERSIAL POSTS DELETED It was learned that Uganda's Defense Forces Commander Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who caused the crisis, deleted his social media posts and did not make a new statement on the matter.
Kainerugaba's previous statements, which claimed he demanded "1 billion dollars and the most beautiful women" from Turkey, had drawn reaction. He had also suggested that he would go to Israel and provide support in the war against Iran and could send hundreds of thousands of soldiers.
NOTABLE PAST Kainerugaba, the son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, had previously made headlines with his unusual statements. In 2022, his marriage proposal to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with a dowry of 100 cows and his statement that he would invade Rome if rejected had caused a great stir.
