The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, announced that measures have been taken on the highways due to the potential traffic congestion expected during the Ramadan Bayram. Uraloğlu stated that traffic will be closely monitored in real-time using Intelligent Transportation Systems throughout the holiday, and mentioned that the control of traffic signs has been carried out, and that road construction and maintenance works may be temporarily halted during this period.

ROAD MAINTENANCE WORKS MAY BE SUSPENDED

Uraloğlu pointed out that traffic markings have been made in sections where road construction, maintenance, and repair works are ongoing and where the physical standard of the road is low for various reasons, and he mentioned that the previously made markings have been reviewed. Uraloğlu also emphasized that they will suspend construction, maintenance, and repair works in sections where such works are being carried out during the Ramadan Bayram holiday unless absolutely necessary.

TRAFFIC SIGNS HAVE BEEN CHECKED

Emphasizing that the traffic signs, highway guardrails, signaling systems, and missing elements on roadside posts have been completed by inspecting the highway network, Minister Uraloğlu continued his remarks as follows:

"We ensured that the soiled signs and traffic signs with reduced visibility are made visible. In limited and exceptional cases where floodwaters may overflow from the vehicle road due to heavy rainfall, repair approach signs have been placed at short intervals above the water level on the side of the vehicle road. In cases of narrowing on the vehicle road for various reasons, traffic will be directed using repair approach signs in sections that are not suitable for traffic due to landslides."

"ENSURING TRAFFIC SAFETY IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY"

Stating that in addition to the measures taken to ensure citizens travel peacefully during the holiday and to prevent traffic accidents, drivers also need to be careful, Minister Uraloğlu said, "Ensuring traffic safety is our collective responsibility. Adhering to speed limits, wearing seat belts, and not using mobile phones while driving are vital for your safety, the safety of your loved ones, and other people on the road."

Uraloğlu emphasized the importance of drivers obeying warning signs and markers in road sections where construction, maintenance, and repair are taking place and not exceeding the specified speed limits.
