The hot and sunny weather that was effective in the first days of Eid al-Adha is giving way to cool and rainy weather. Meteorology announced that temperatures will drop by up to 7 degrees in some regions and that thunderstorms are expected in 76 provinces. A yellow code warning was issued for 8 provinces.
According to the latest forecasts from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (TSMS), Turkey is entering the influence of a new cold and rainy weather system coming from the Black Sea. The spring weather that has been effective during the first two days of Eid al-Adha will be replaced by cool and rainy weather.
TEMPERATURES WILL DROP BY UP TO 7 DEGREES
According to meteorological data, air temperatures will decrease by 5 to 7 degrees, especially in the northern and eastern regions. No significant change is expected in temperatures in other regions. Experts state that citizens should be careful due to the sudden drop in temperature.
THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED IN 76 PROVINCES
Today, thunderstorms will be seen in most parts of the country, except in 5 provinces located in the Coastal Aegean and Western Mediterranean.
Precipitation is expected to be particularly heavy along the eastern Black Sea coast, eastern Adana, western districts of Kahramanmaraş, coastal areas of Hatay, Niğde, Nevşehir, Kayseri, Yozgat, Tokat, and Ordu.
The TSMS warned citizens living in these regions against flash floods, waterlogging, and possible disruptions in transportation.
YELLOW CODE WARNING FOR 8 PROVINCES
The TSMS issued a yellow code meteorological warning for Artvin, Giresun, Rize, Trabzon, Adana, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, and Osmaniye due to the expectation of heavy precipitation. Authorities emphasized that precautions should be taken against adverse weather conditions.
STRONG WINDS WILL ALSO BE EFFECTIVE
In addition to rain, strong winds are also expected in some regions. Wind is forecast to blow at speeds of 40 to 60 kilometers per hour in Kilis, Gaziantep, and southeastern Eastern Anatolia.
Experts state that citizens and drivers especially in open areas should be careful.
