In a traffic enforcement operation in Adana, an intoxicated female driver of Saudi Arabian nationality, who ignored the police's stop order by saying 'I have anxiety,' hit a police officer while fleeing and caused an accident. It was determined that her driving license had been previously permanently revoked due to alcohol, and the driver was taken into custody. The woman, who disregarded the rules, was fined 557 thousand liras.
Teams from the Adana Provincial Police Department's Traffic Inspection Branch conducted operations at various points across the city. The documents of drivers of 387 vehicles stopped during the checks were inspected. While teams imposed fines on 126 drivers found with deficiencies, they impounded 8 vehicles from traffic.
SAUDI WOMAN SAYS "I HAD AN ANXIETY ATTACK" HITS POLICE AND FLEES
In an operation held at Uğur Mumcu Square in the central Seyhan district, police teams stopped a vehicle with license plate 31 HP 802. For routine checks and an alcohol test, police teams asked the Saudi national woman named C.H. to get out of the vehicle. The woman, who did not blow into the breathalyzer and refused to leave the car, said "I had an anxiety attack," hit the police with her car, and fled the scene. During this, teams attempted to stop her with pepper spray but were unsuccessful.
COULD ONLY STOP AFTER CAUSING AN ACCIDENT
Police teams pursued the vehicle, and the young woman could only stop after crashing into a pole. After the accident, the woman was taken out of the car, and it was determined that she had 1.04 promil alcohol in her blood, and her driver's license had been permanently revoked previously due to driving under the influence of alcohol.
HAD BEEN CAUGHT DRINK-DRIVING BEFORE
An administrative fine totaling 557,719 lira was imposed on the driver for various violations including driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a revoked license, dangerous lane changing, failing to obey a stop order, and driving an uninspected vehicle.
TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Additionally, the vehicle was impounded from traffic for 120 days, and legal proceedings were initiated against the driver for the crime of "endangering traffic safety." It was noteworthy that the young woman, taken into custody, did not let go of her dog even for a moment during the procedures.
