The secret witness codenamed 'February', who changed the course of the investigation into the disappearance of Munzur University student Gülistan Doku, explicitly declared that Doku was killed. Following the statements of the secret witness, who claimed that the body was moved multiple times due to concerns about its discovery, a suspicious void resembling a grave was detected at the described location using underground scanning devices.
In the investigation of Gülistan Doku, who has been missing in Tunceli since January 5, 2020, 13 people were detained in an operation conducted in 7 provinces on suspicion of murder. Among those detained are Gülistan Doku's boyfriend Zeinal Abakarov, his stepfather E.Y., a former police officer, his mother C.Y., U.A., E.E., and Mustafa Türkay Sonel, the son of Tuncay Sonel, the then governor of Tunceli and currently an inspector at the Ministry of Interior. While the investigation continues, striking details are emerging.
SECRET WITNESS "FEBRUARY" CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE INVESTIGATION The most notable breakthrough in the Gülistan Doku investigation conducted by the Tunceli Republic Prosecutor's Office occurred years later with two consecutive developments. The first was an anonymous note left in front of the family's lawyer's office in 2022, assessed to have been typed on a typewriter. That note recorded that Gülistan Doku had a relationship with Mustafa Türkay Sonel, the son of Tuncay Sonel, the then governor of Tunceli. The second major breakthrough was the statements of a secret witness who testified under the code name "February" in 2025. These two developments fundamentally changed the direction of the investigation, which began with a missing person report.
Mustafa Türkay Sonel, the son of the then Governor of Tunceli Tuncay Sonel, was also detained. "SHE WAS TAKEN FROM THE BRIDGE AREA ON THE DAY OF THE INCIDENT" The person who requested their identity be kept confidential contacted JASAT and explicitly stated that Gülistan Doku was killed; then shared shocking details that even shocked the investigating authorities. The secret witness stated that Gülistan Doku was taken from the bridge area on the day of the incident and provided quite detailed accounts of what happened afterwards. The secret witness indicated that the body was moved multiple times due to concerns about it being found. Following the statement, at a point described, an examination with underground scanning devices detected a suspicious void resembling a grave.
FINDINGS STRENGTHENING THE CLAIM THAT THE BODY WAS MOVED According to prosecution sources, these findings further strengthened the claim that the body was moved. The overlap between the technical findings and the secret witness's accounts was interpreted as a sign that the case had entered a new phase. Search and excavation operations with underground imaging devices were also carried out at other identified locations.
BACKGROUND OF THE INCIDENT The family of Gülistan Doku, a university student in Tunceli, who had not heard from their daughter since January 5, 2020, came from their hometown Diyarbakır to Tunceli and filed a missing person report with the police on January 6, 2020. Teams that met with the 21-year-old girl's friends and tracked her cell phone signals had initiated a search. No results were obtained from the searches.
