The scale of the scandal in the investigation into the abuse allegations against a 13-year-old girl in the Amasra district of Bartın has grown. In the case where 33 people were previously arrested, the victim's mother, T.Ö., was also arrested and sent to prison. It was determined that a total of 36 people, including 26 adults and 10 children, were connected to the victim in the investigation.
REVEALED BY AN ANONYMOUS TIP
The chain of abuse, alleged to have lasted for months in the Amasra district of Bartın, which has a population of approximately 13,705, came to light after an anonymous tip to the police on April 18. Based on digital evidence obtained in the comprehensive investigation launched by the Bartın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, strong suspicion of crime was reached that the victim child was abused by some individuals with whom she communicated via social media.
10 OF THE SUSPECTS ARE UNDER 18
Within the scope of the investigation, a total of 36 males of different ages were identified as being connected to the victim girl. It was learned that 26 of the suspects are adults and 10 are under the age of 18. According to information in the case file, it was alleged that one of the adult suspects manipulated the young child into having a relationship and told others about it. It was claimed that the abusers knew each other and that some incidents occurred in pairs or trios. It was stated that the suspects continued the relationship even though they knew the victim was underage.
ALLEGATION THAT THE MOTHER KNEW THE SITUATION
It was alleged that the information that the girl, who started living with her brother and sister after her parents' divorce, would leave the house at night and meet with people older than her was also known by her mother. The mother, T.Ö., who was detained within the scope of the investigation in which 33 people were previously arrested, was arrested on charges of "violation of family obligations" and "concealing and destroying evidence of a crime." It was learned that the victim child was taken under state protection.
STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTRY
In a statement made by the Ministry of Family and Social Services, it was stated that the process has been meticulously followed from the moment the incident was reported to the judicial authorities. The statement noted that psychosocial support services were provided to the victim child and her family by expert teams, and that a care measure decision was taken considering the best interests of the child, who was placed under state protection. The Ministry also announced that they would intervene in the lawsuit and closely monitor the judicial process to ensure the defendants receive the harshest punishment.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Bartın Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an indictment was prepared on May 8 against 10 children deemed to have been pushed into crime and 26 suspects. The trial process began after the indictment was accepted by the Bartın 2nd Heavy Penal Court. In the case, a total of 33 people, including 9 children pushed into crime and 24 adult suspects, were arrested, while judicial control provisions were applied to 3 people.
