Hospitals in Gaza are about to be plunged into darkness! A vital call from the Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced that hospital generators whose fuel has run out have reached the point of stopping and being permanently damaged. The ministry reported that generators operated under constant fuel shortage have mechanically “reached the final critical point.” Warning that burned-out generators cannot be operated again, the ministry reiterated its call for urgent intervention to all relevant organizations.

A small number of hospitals in the Gaza Strip are still operating. In these hospitals, generators that supply electricity to vital units could stop at any moment due to the lack of fuel. The Ministry of Health in Gaza warned that this situation endangers the lives of patients and the wounded.

“IT HAS REACHED THE FINAL CRITICAL POINT”

In the Ministry’s statement, attention was drawn to the danger of generators supplying electricity to vital units in hospitals stopping and breaking down. It was stated that if fuel runs out completely, the generators could stop suddenly and unavoidably. It was underlined that this could lead to the engines burning out or malfunctioning. It was stated that the generators, which are experiencing a constant fuel shortage and are being run on little fuel, have mechanically “reached the final critical point.”

A BURNED-OUT GENERATOR NO LONGER WORKS

According to the statement, engineers are monitoring the generators under complex technical conditions. They are trying to keep the generators running so that electricity can be supplied to vital units. It was recalled that in generators that have burned out due to fuel shortage, the damage is permanent and these machines can no longer be operated.

THE CALL FOR EMERGENCY INTERVENTION WAS REPEATED

In the statement addressed to all relevant organizations, it was emphasized that the problem is no longer only a lack of fuel. The call for emergency intervention was repeated to prevent the remaining generators from breaking down. The Ministry of Health in Gaza had also announced the day before that the fuel needed to run the generators in hospitals had run out.

MEDICAL DEVICES ARE RUNNING ON GENERATORS

In the few remaining hospitals in the Gaza Strip, medical devices in the departments where patients and the wounded are treated are running on electricity produced by generators. Israel is restricting the entry of humanitarian aid, medicine, and fuel. The inability to deliver fuel to hospitals directly threatens the lives of patients and the wounded who are connected to medical devices.

MORE THAN 74,000 PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES

Israel has been carrying out attacks on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, and schools and hospitals have also been targeted in these attacks. More than 74,000 Palestinians lost their lives and more than 175,000 people were injured in the attacks. It is stated that about 90 percent of the infrastructure has been destroyed.
