A fire broke out in a hotel in Kolkata, in the Indian state of West Bengal, killing 9 people and injuring 6 others. The deceased were reported to be Bangladeshi citizens who had come for medical tourism.

Authorities who arrived at the scene after the fire alarm evacuated more than 50 people from the hotel. Authorities said 9 people died in the fire and 6 injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
