A fire broke out in a hotel in Kolkata, in the Indian state of West Bengal, killing 9 people and injuring 6 others. The deceased were reported to be Bangladeshi citizens who had come for medical tourism.

According to India Today newspaper, a fire broke out around 02:00 local time at a hotel in Kolkata, West Bengal, for reasons not yet determined.

Authorities who arrived at the scene after the fire alarm evacuated more than 50 people from the hotel. Authorities said 9 people died in the fire and 6 injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
