School service fees in Istanbul have been increased ahead of the new academic term. With a 10 percent increase applied to the service tariff, the annual fee has exceeded the 90 thousand TL limit for some distances over 21 kilometers.
The new regulation on school service fees in Istanbul has become one of the most curious topics for parents before the 2026-2027 academic year. With a 10 percent increase in service fees, the updated tariff published by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality set a maximum annual fee of 39,970 TL for the shortest distance and 93,610 TL for distances between 23-25 kilometers. Thus, especially for students whose schools are far from home, the annual service cost has exceeded the 90,000 TL level. It is also clearly stated in the official tariff that fees vary by distance, the figures show maximum amounts including VAT, and no fee above the determined tariff can be requested from parents.
SCHOOL SERVICE FEES IN ISTANBUL ANNOUNCED
School service fees to be applied in Istanbul during the 2026-2027 academic year are determined gradually based on the distance between the student and the school. Accordingly, for the shortest distance of 0-1 kilometers, the maximum monthly service fee was set at 4,456 TL, and the annual fee at 39,970 TL. While the annual fee rises to 42,804 TL for distances between 1-3 kilometers, the service cost also increases significantly as the distance grows.
GUIDE STAFF FEE MAY INCREASE SERVICE COST
Another issue parents should pay attention to when creating their service budget is the guide staff fee. According to the tariff, in service vehicles carrying preschool, primary school, and middle school students, it is mandatory to have guide staff who assist students during boarding and alighting and maintain order inside the vehicle. For services in this scope, a guide staff fee of up to 35 percent can be added to the transportation fee. For high schools and equivalent institutions, no guide staff fee is added to the service fee.
