The first statement from the Houthis came as the U.S. military heavily bombarded Yemen under the orders of President Donald Trump. In the statement, it was expressed that the airstrikes carried out by the U.S. and the U.K. on the capital Sana would not go unanswered.

The Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen announced that the airstrikes carried out by the United States and the United Kingdom on the capital Sana'a would not go unanswered.

"A FULLY-FLEDGED WAR CRIME"

In a written statement from the Houthi Political Bureau, it was stated that targeting residential areas in the capital Sana'a by the US and the UK was a treacherous attack and a fully-fledged war crime.

"TARGETING CIVILIANS IS EVIDENCE OF AMERICAN TERRORISM"

The statement noted that targeting civilians was another proof of American terrorism against peoples and countries that oppose it. It was mentioned that the attacks were carried out due to Yemen's supportive stance towards the Palestinian people, and this situation would not prevent Yemen from supporting Palestine and fulfilling its duty to assist Gaza. The statement emphasized that these attacks would not go unanswered and that the Houthis' armed forces were ready to respond to escalation with escalation.

"A CLEAR ATTACK ON AN INDEPENDENT STATE"

Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdussalam also stated in a statement on the X platform that the US attacks on Yemen were a clear attack on an independent state and encouraged Israel to continue its unjust blockade on Gaza. Abdussalam emphasized that US President Donald Trump's claims about the threat to international navigation in the Bab al-Mandab Strait were misleading and unfounded.

Spokesman Abdussalam noted that the navigation ban declared by the Houthis around the Red Sea to support Gaza was limited to Israeli transport until humanitarian aid reached the people of Gaza, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement between the Palestinian resistance and Israel, and that the ban came after a four-day period was given to the mediators. Abdussalam stated, "International navigation in the Red Sea will remain safe under Yemen's protection, and American attacks will revert to the militarization of the Red Sea, and this is the real threat to international navigation in the region."

WHAT HAPPENED?

The Houthis reported that 13 people were killed and 9 injured in the airstrikes carried out by the US and the UK on the capital Sana'a yesterday.

The Houthis had stated on March 7 that they had given Israel a 4-day deadline to allow aid into Gaza, otherwise they would resume naval operations against Israel.

US President Donald Trump announced on his Truth Social platform account that he had instructed the military to launch a "major attack" against the Houthis in Yemen.
