Mauro Icardi, who left Galatasaray, has been taken to court over the luxury villa he rented in Istanbul. An 8 million lira enforcement proceeding has been initiated against the Argentine star, who vacated the house he rented for $504,000 annually 4 months before the end of the contract. The court rejected the landlord company's request for precautionary attachment.

Mauro Icardi, who became the darling of the yellow-and-red fans during his time at Galatasaray, has now made headlines with a rent dispute in Istanbul. The Argentine footballer's vacating the luxury villa he rented in Göktürk before the contract term expired led to a legal dispute between him and the landlord company.

ANNUAL RENT IS 504 THOUSAND DOLLARS

It was reported that last year Icardi rented a luxury villa in Istanbul's Göktürk district for an annual 504 thousand dollars, approximately 23 million 330 thousand liras. However, it was stated that the star footballer vacated the villa 4 months before the end of his one-year lease agreement. The landlord company demanded the rent for the remaining months because the contract period was not completed.

ENFORCEMENT PROCEEDINGS FOR 8 MILLION LIRAS INITIATED

The property owner company requested that Icardi pay 8 million liras in rent for the remaining 4-month period. When the Argentine footballer did not accept the payment, the company applied to the enforcement office and initiated proceedings. After Icardi objected to the enforcement proceedings through his lawyers, the dispute was taken to court. The landlord company filed a lawsuit at the Istanbul Civil Court of Peace for the cancellation of the objection.

"HE LEFT THE VILLA DAMAGED" CLAIM

Among the claims included in the case file was that the villa was left damaged when it was vacated. In its petition submitted to the court, the landlord company alleged that Icardi caused serious damage to the property.

The company also requested a precautionary attachment, stating that with the end of the transfer period, the Argentine footballer could leave the country.

COURT RULES IN FAVOR OF ICARDI

Evaluating the file and the evidence submitted, the court rejected the landlord company's precautionary attachment application against Icardi. However, this decision did not end the rent dispute between the parties. The case for receivables and compensation between the Argentine star and the landlord company will continue to be heard at the Istanbul Civil Court of Peace.
