IETT buses collided: 2 injured, including 1 child.

12.10.2024 16:41

A public bus of İETT was moving along a road closed to traffic with its passengers in Sultangazi when it collided with another İETT bus traveling in the same direction at a junction. A witness of the accident said, "Two weeks ago, there were two accidents in the same way. They need to put up a proper warning sign or close the road carefully. Has no one inspected this place until now? They should come and check it; is a person's life that cheap?"

Two İETT buses collided at a road junction in Sultangazi, Istanbul. Due to the accident, a child and a woman on the buses were taken to the hospital by ambulance, and an investigation was initiated regarding the accident.

The accident occurred around 1:00 PM on Selçuklu Street in the Habipler neighborhood of Sultangazi. An İETT bus operating on the 336H line was moving along a road that was closed to traffic with its passengers. At that moment, it collided with a bus on the 336K line that was moving in the same direction at the junction.

2 INJURED

As a result of the collision, a 12-year-old named A.R. on one bus and a woman named Y.Ç. on the other bus were injured. A large number of ambulances, police, and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. While the injured were taken to the hospital by health teams, both buses were damaged. Due to the construction work for an overpass, one side of the road was closed to traffic while the other side was opened for two-way traffic.

"LET THEM COME AND CHECK, IS A HUMAN LIFE THIS CHEAP?"

Murat Taşdemir, stating that this was not the first accident, said, "Two weeks ago, there were also two accidents in the same way. Now, there is no one responsible; there are very serious mistakes. The bus came from the closed side, the driver apparently didn't know, and it side-swiped the other bus at the intersection. There was 1 injured on one bus and 1 injured on the other bus. I was coming behind them in my vehicle, I saw it. I also barely avoided hitting the other bus at the last moment. I had some distance, to be honest. They were slightly injured; the child had some blood on his arms, as glass had fallen on him. Fortunately, it wasn't serious. A heavy ambulance came right away, 4-5 ambulances arrived. The others were fine; we only had 2 injured. There is something serious here; such irresponsibility cannot be tolerated. They need to put up a proper warning sign or close the road carefully. Has no one ever inspected this place until today? Let them come and check, is a human life this cheap?" he expressed.

The police teams have initiated an investigation regarding the accident.
