Former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş has filed a lawsuit against the CHP for the annulment of the controversial ordinary congress held on November 4-5, 2023. While the repercussions of this event continue, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu stated, "I do not take any of his words into consideration. It was a congress as precious as a diamond, and it was conducted in a completely gentlemanly manner. These are just people who are left idle."

Former Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş, who was expelled from the CHP, filed a lawsuit at the Ankara Civil Court to cancel the 'Democracy and Unity Congress' organized by the CHP on November 4-5, 2023. In the petition, Savaş stated that they distributed money in the form of houses, cars, phones, tablets, and suitcases to win the election, and he claimed that the outcome of the congress was altered through various bribes mixed with the state of will disruption.

"I DO NOT CONSIDER ANY OF HIS WORDS"

Following this move by Lütfü Savaş, a notable evaluation came from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, to whom attention turned. İmamoğlu used harsh expressions for Savaş, stating, "Incompetent, unethical, and has a rotten foundation. I do not consider any of his words. It has been a congress like a diamond, completely gentlemanly. These are people who have been left idle."

SUITCASES FULL OF DOLLARS, HOUSES, CARS

The petition for cancellation submitted by Lütfü Savaş included the following statements: "After the statement of the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, my client, as a result of his research, spoke with many congress delegates and for the delegates spoken to; it has been clearly expressed on social media and news that pressures were exerted on the delegates by the current party management and individuals in local government positions to change the election result, that houses and cars were given to the delegates in exchange for votes, that suitcases full of dollars were brought to the hotels where the delegates stayed and distributed to the delegates, that iPhone phones and iPad tablets were given in exchange for votes, and that the election result was changed by promising job opportunities to some delegates."

COMPANIES THAT WON MUNICIPAL TENDERS DISTRIBUTED MONEY

Moreover, as can be seen from the news articles reflected in the media and presented in the annex, some of the delegates who voted at the mentioned congress and their relatives were employed at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and many delegates were promised political positions such as Mayorships. Again, as can be seen from the press releases presented in the annex, it is evident that there was a flow of money to the delegates during the congress period (in exchange for tenders) by the companies awarded tenders by the CHP's municipalities in Istanbul.
