In an interview, the mother of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was detained as part of a corruption and terrorism investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), stated, "At first, I didn't want him to run for president. But now, in response to all their efforts against him, I do want it. I just hope that my son doesn't face any sorrow. May he be well, and may he return to me."
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor and the expected presidential candidate of the CHP, Ekrem İmamoğlu, along with more than 100 other individuals, has had detention orders issued against them, and 87 people have been detained.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has initiated investigations against IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and 99 suspects on charges of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender." Meanwhile, investigations have also been launched against 7 suspects, including İmamoğlu, IMM Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, and Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, on the charge of "aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization," and the interrogation processes of those detained have begun.

Hava İmamoğlu, the mother of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, stated in an interview after her son was detained, "I initially did not want him to be a presidential candidate. But now, against all this effort, I want him to be. May my son not come to any harm. May he return to me safely."
