Ekrem İmamoğlu, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), stated that the process regarding his presidential candidacy has become clearer, saying, "The details of the process will probably be announced this weekend and shared with the public. Next week, our roadmap will also be clear."

IMAMOGLU'S STATEMENT ON PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDACY

IMM Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu met with radio professionals working in different institutions on World Radio Day. Speaking about current issues at the meeting held at Artİstanbul Feshane, İmamoğlu answered questions after celebrating World Radio Day.

"MANSUR YAVAŞ HAS A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE"

In response to a question about his and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş's candidacy in the primary elections to be held on March 23 in the CHP, İmamoğlu said, "Ultimately, Mr. Mansur has a different perspective. He believes that 'it is too early for candidacy today. Therefore, the primary election is also early.' Thus, he expressed that he does not consider running under these conditions."

Imamoğlu: The Candidacy Process is Becoming Clear, Our Roadmap Will Be Announced Next Week

"DETAILS OF THE PROCESS WILL BE ANNOUNCED THIS WEEKEND"

İmamoğlu stated, "The process has become clear. Now the details of the process will be announced. Once it is announced, we will share with the public how we will proceed, what kind of path and route we will define. This means that the details of the process will probably be announced this weekend and shared with the public. Next week, our roadmap will also be clear. I believe that our party is taking a courageous step towards a path that holds very important opportunities for Turkey. This is a revolution of democracy. It is very rare in the world. For the first time in our country, the party members will determine a presidential candidate."

"I BELIEVE IT IS THE RIGHT TIME"

İmamoğlu, expressing that he does not participate in the debate about being too early or too late, said that this could change according to the conditions, time, and the spirit of the time. İmamoğlu noted that there are many issues that need to be addressed today, and continued: "Our country needs a large team. This team should consist of the children of the nation. It should be very inclusive. All these preparations, technical, content, national policies... There are many issues in every field. For this reason, I believe it is the right time. Moreover, the government can change its mind at any moment. I mean, there are 3 years left in normal time, but you might find that elections could be held next year. If they find the opportunity, they might even hold it this year. We actually want it to happen as soon as possible and for the flow of our country to change."

İmamoğlu stated that there will be a ground where the public owns it and the initiative of CHP members is put forward with the right timing and the right model, and he believes that this will also reach a legitimacy that the public will largely accept. İmamoğlu expressed his belief that this legitimacy will, over time, encompass the entire opposition with different methods and approaches, saying, "In that context, I would like to express that our party and our Chairman have drawn a correct roadmap, and I support this roadmap. Everything will probably become clear within a week at the latest. After that, we will all follow a warmer, more fluid agenda together."
