Immediately after his speech in which he shared information about the expert S.B., an investigation was initiated against Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) President Ekrem İmamoğlu. Following the investigation, a new development occurred. İmamoğlu was summoned to the Prosecutor's Office to give a statement on Friday.
THERE IS A STATEMENT FROM THE CHIEF PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
In a statement made by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated, "It has been determined that Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality President Ekrem İmamoğlu, during the press conference he held today, publicly targeted one of the experts assigned in some investigations conducted by our Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, with the aim of influencing the decisions to be made in favor of the suspects of the investigation, and that he attempted to influence the judiciary by disclosing his name. Therefore, an investigation has been initiated ex officio in accordance with Articles 277 and 288 of the Turkish Penal Code."

The statement also included, "Additionally, instructions have been given to the Istanbul Police Department to make the necessary identification and initiate an investigation against those who made statements in this direction in the written and visual media."

İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu made statements regarding the investigation initiated against him. İmamoğlu said, "We will share every illegality and injustice done to us with the Turkish Nation. We will not deprive anyone of their rights, nor will we allow our rights to be taken away. An investigation is initiated against me before I even finish my speech. Responding to these unjust interventions is not influencing a fair trial; on the contrary, it is defending the independence of the law. I expect a swift investigation regarding the unlawful actions I have documented. Initiating an investigation against the media organizations reporting these unlawful actions and the citizens sharing them is the height of censorship. The truth has a habit of coming out one day."
