Tesla has initiated legal proceedings by challenging the additional customs duties imposed by the European Union on Chinese-made electric vehicles. The company has approached the EU Court of Justice following other manufacturers such as BYD and Geely.
Tesla has initiated legal proceedings against the European Union's (EU) decision to impose additional customs duties on Chinese-made electric vehicles. According to the records of the European Court of Justice, which is based in Luxembourg and is the highest court of the Union, Tesla has officially filed an appeal against the EU Commission's tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles. Thus, following Chinese manufacturers such as BYD, Geely, and SAIC, Tesla has also entered the legal process against the EU's customs duties on Chinese-made electric vehicles.
TRADE COMPETITION BETWEEN THE US AND EUROPE IS HEATING UP
Tesla is also sending vehicles produced in its Chinese factory to the European market. With the EU's decision, additional customs duties have been imposed on Tesla, although they are lower than those on others. The EU Commission completed its anti-subsidy investigation into electric vehicles produced in China last October, imposing customs duties on the import of electric vehicles from this country to Europe. In this context, in addition to the existing 10% tax, the EU has imposed an additional tax of 7.8% on Tesla's models produced in China, 17% on BYD, 18.8% on Geely, 20.7% on manufacturers cooperating in the investigation, and 35.3% on SAIC and other companies that did not cooperate.
