The Social Security Institution has determined that 400 individuals had fake insurance registrations as textile workers in a 40-square-meter shop operating in a business center in the Fatih district of Istanbul.
As part of the fight against unregistered employment, the Social Security Institution (SGK) is continuing its inspections in this area through the "Fake Insurance and Fake Workplace Tracking Platform," which scrutinizes fake workplaces and fake insured individuals.
94,740 INSURANCE POLICIES CANCELLED
Last year, within the scope of the fight against unregistered employment, 124,982 workplaces were inspected, and 12,684 workplaces were inspected under the categories of fake workplaces and fake insurance. During these inspections, it was determined that 2,114 workplaces were fake, and the insurance of a total of 94,740 individuals, who were insured through fake workplaces or whose insurance premiums were paid despite not working, was cancelled.
A TOTAL OF 2 BILLION 36 MILLION LIRA IN FINES IMPOSED
A total of 2 billion 36 million 732 thousand lira in fines was imposed on these workplaces due to unregistered employment. In the context of integrating workplaces and employees into the social security system, the insurance of 21,634 individuals was secured, and the registration of 518 workplaces was achieved.
THE SHOP CONSISTS OF 2 TABLES AND 10 CHAIRS
The SGK's inspections targeting unregistered employment, fake workplaces, and fake insured individuals are carried out by inspectors numbering around 3,000. Inspections conducted in all 81 provinces of Turkey, especially in provinces with high rates of unregistered employment, did not allow any room for fraud, while SGK inspectors also encountered interesting scenarios during their duties.
In a 40-square-meter shop operating in a business center in the Fatih district of Istanbul, it was found that 400 individuals were registered as textile workers. It was revealed that some of the insured individuals resided in different provinces, while the 40-square-meter shop was found to consist of only 2 tables and 10 chairs.
In a different province, inspectors uncovered that 540 individuals were falsely insured in a workplace operating as a consulting firm in an apartment.
