Residents of Ozan village in the Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman held a protest against the planned concrete plant to be established near their homes. The village headman emphasized the dangers the plant could pose to the environment and health, pointing out that areas where agricultural products are dried in the village could be affected.

The people of Ozan village, located in the Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman, protested against the planned concrete plant to be established in a nearby location.

The residents of Ozan village stated that the establishment of the concrete plant could have negative effects on the environment and the living conditions of the village, and they opposed the construction of the plant. Citizens gathered in the village square to express their reactions to the area where the concrete plant is to be built.

"CEMENT DUST WILL COME OVER OUR VILLAGE"

Reacting to the situation, Village Head Ali Ören said, "A ready-mixed concrete plant is being established in an area that is 200 meters away from the newly built earthquake houses in our village. We are villagers, and we dry food, especially during the summer season, in our village. We dry foods such as tarhana, tomato paste, and pestil in the open air. When the concrete plant is established, the cement and similar dust that will rise from here will come over our village," he stated.

"WATER SOURCE WILL BE POISONED"

Ören also added, "The distance from here to the village is 200 meters, and the distance to the water reservoir is 100 meters. As a citizen who has come out of an earthquake, just as we were escaping from asbestos, poison, and construction dust, now this has come up. As you know, asbestos is a carcinogenic substance. There is a water source from which we pump water during the summer season beneath this area. It will poison the water source. We absolutely do not want the concrete plant to be built here. Despite our applications to the necessary authorities, the construction of the plant continues. We are notifying the relevant parties, and hopefully, we will achieve a result," he said.
