The Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams carried out three successful operations in Mersin, Edirne, and Hakkari. As part of the fight against smuggling, 24 luxury vehicles worth 356.6 million Turkish Liras were seized in an operation conducted at Mersin Customs Port, and approximately 608 kilograms of narcotic substances with a market value of about 720 million Turkish Liras were seized in two different operations carried out in Hakkari and Edirne provinces.
24 SMUGGLED LUXURY VEHICLES SEIZED As part of the fight against smuggling, detailed inspections were initiated regarding 12 containers deemed suspicious as a result of risk analysis studies and controls conducted by the Mersin Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams. Following the evaluation, a detailed search decision was made after detecting density in the containers sent to the Vehicle and Container Scanning System.
Instead of hand tools and fabric molds as declared, 24 luxury passenger and jeep-type vehicles of various brands and models were found inside the opened containers for searching. The vehicles, with a market value of approximately 356.6 million Turkish Liras, were confiscated. In two different operations carried out by the Ministry of Trade Customs Enforcement teams in Hakkari and Edirne provinces, approximately 608 kilograms of narcotic substances with a market value of about 720 million Turkish Liras were seized. As part of narcotic risk analysis and targeting studies conducted by the Esendere and Kapıkule Customs Enforcement Anti-Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate teams, detailed searches were conducted on suspicious vehicles entering the customs area in Turkey;
A total of 608 kilograms of narcotic substances were seized, including 431 kilograms of heroin at the Hakkari Esendere Customs Gate and 177 kilograms of marijuana at the Edirne Kapıkule Customs Gate. Investigations related to the incidents are ongoing at the Mersin, Yüksekova, and Edirne Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.
