Istanbul Governor Davut Gül stated that hotels operating without a license or without a business certificate from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will be closed. Speaking at the meeting, Gül recalled the painful incident in Bolu where 78 people lost their lives, emphasizing the importance of reviewing the fire safety measures of institutions and pointing out that there are buildings that need to be inspected.
"UNLICENSED HOTELS WILL BE CLOSED"
Stating that unlicensed hotels or those without an operating certificate from the ministry will be closed, Gül said, "A process has begun regarding hotels. Our district governors will coordinate. All hotels without a license or an operating certificate from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will be closed by tomorrow, or at the latest by Saturday or Sunday. By Monday, we will have closed all accommodation places that are unlicensed or licensed but do not have a simple accommodation certificate from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The lists are clear. Therefore, let's finish it by tomorrow. If we can't complete it due to scale, we will have closed all of them by Saturday and Sunday," he stated.
EMPHASIS ON FIRE DEPARTMENT CAUGHT ATTENTION
Furthermore, Governor Gül added that in the areas under their jurisdiction, the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and district municipalities, along with fire departments, must ensure the safety of citizens 100% in coordination with district governors according to a set schedule.
