In Ulupınar District, affiliated with Kemer district of Antalya, teams and local residents united as one to extinguish a forest fire that broke out. As darkness fell and aerial vehicles stopped working in the rugged terrain, the fight continued from the ground, and the solidarity displayed by the people of Çıralı warmed hearts. Volunteers loaded fire extinguishers onto a donkey's saddle and climbed steep slopes, racing against time with all their might to prevent the flames from growing further.
A forest fire broke out in the Ulupınar neighborhood of Antalya's Kemer district. Upon reports from citizens who noticed the flames, numerous teams from the Regional Directorate of Forestry and fire departments were dispatched to the area.
GROUND INTERVENTION CONTINUES
To bring the flames under control, 3 helicopters, 4 water tenders, 2 water supply vehicles, 2 initial response vehicles, along with 50 technical personnel and fire workers fought tirelessly at first. However, as darkness fell, aerial intervention by planes and helicopters was necessarily halted due to lack of night vision. Throughout the night, ground teams continued extinguishing and containment efforts nonstop.
THEY CARRIED FIRE EXTINGUISHERS BY DONKEY
Local residents also supported the teams battling the fire in difficult terrain conditions with great dedication. Residents of Çıralı climbed the steep terrain with fire extinguishers they brought by their own means, especially to intervene in the flames at the Yanartaş area.
Volunteers, wanting to lighten the heavy load, attached 4 fire extinguishers to the saddle of a donkey they found in the forest and transported them to the hilltop where the flames were rising. A volunteer group of about 25 people, including Ulupınar Mukhtar Salih Sarıca, Habib Altınkaya, and Derya Yavuz, intervened in the flames with the extinguishers, contributing their efforts to the firefighting work.
Intensive efforts are being made to prevent the flames from spreading to a wider area through the solidarity of ground teams, volunteers, and local residents. Efforts to fully bring the fire under control continue from the ground.
