The total payment amount made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards reached 1,522.8 billion TL in February, marking a 50% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. The share of contactless payments accounted for three-quarters of in-store payments.

Four out of every five card payments made in-store were contactless. The amount of online card payments grew by 51% compared to the same period last year, reaching 443.9 billion TL.
THERE IS AN INCREASE IN ALL CARD QUANTITIES
As of February, the number of credit cards in Turkey reached 131.2 million, the number of debit cards reached 196.9 million, and the number of prepaid cards reached 114.5 million. Compared to February 2024, there was a 9% increase in the number of credit cards, a 3% increase in the number of debit cards, and a 25% increase in the number of prepaid cards. The total number of cards reached 442.6 million, showing a 10% increase compared to the same period last year.
THERE IS A 50% INCREASE IN CARD PAYMENT AMOUNT
The total payment amount made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in February increased by 50% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1,522.8 billion TL. Of the card payments, 1,288.2 billion TL were made with credit cards, 203.6 billion TL with debit cards, and 31.0 billion TL with prepaid cards. The growth rate for payments made with credit cards compared to the same period last year was 53%, while it was 35% for payments made with debit cards, and 63% for payments made with prepaid cards.
THE NUMBER OF CARD PAYMENT TRANSACTIONS HAS ALSO INCREASED
The total number of payment transactions made with credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in February increased by 5% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1.43 billion. Of the card payments, 821.6 million were made with credit cards, 494.0 million with debit cards, and 113.5 million with prepaid cards. The growth rate for the number of payments made with credit cards compared to the same period last year was 8%, while it was 1% for payments made with debit cards, and 6% for payments made with prepaid cards.
THE HIGHEST INCREASE IS IN ONLINE CARD PAYMENTS
Online card payments increased by 51% compared to the same period last year, rising to 443.9 billion TL. The share of online card payments in total payments was 29%. The number of online card payment transactions increased by 2% compared to the same period last year, reaching 208.0 million. The share of online card payments in total payments was 15%. The number of contactless payments made with cards increased by 10% compared to the same period last year, reaching 938.9 million. The amount of contactless payments increased by 66% compared to the same period last year, reaching 482.0 billion TL. In February, four out of every five card payments made in-store were contactless.
