The assailants beat the elderly man and dragged him for about 30 meters before fleeing into the darkness with a bag containing gold and cash worth 8 million lira. The horrifying moments were captured on security cameras, and Aydın tearfully recounted, "They took my hard-earned money by force, beating me."
ATTACKED WHILE RETURNING FROM THE JEWELER
The incident occurred on November 24 in the Tavşanlı neighborhood around 7:00 PM. Zeki Aydın, who went to the jeweler to exchange his accumulated gold, decided to return home in the evening without making a sale. As he parked his car in the garage and headed towards his house with his bag, he was stopped by a masked assailant.
TWO PEOPLE THREW HIM TO THE GROUND AND DRAGGED HIM 30 METERS
The struggle that began between Aydın and the first assailant was joined by a second suspect waiting on a motorcycle. The two robbers beat the 74-year-old man, dragged him on the ground, and forcibly took the bag before quickly fleeing the scene. Those moments were captured second by second on nearby security cameras.
THERE WAS A FORTUNE IN THE BAG
Describing the horror he experienced, Zeki Aydın stated that the gold in the bag was worth approximately 8 million lira:
"I know the gold business. During the day, I went to several jewelers and took out the gold; there were people who saw it on the counter. In the bag, there was about 1.3 kilograms of gold, including Ata gold and bracelets. Its value is close to 8 million lira."
THOUGHT HE WAS ASKING FOR DIRECTIONS, THEN JUMPED ON HIM
Detailing the moment of the attack, Aydın recounted:
"I entered the garage and came out in front of the house with the bag. A young man was standing in front of me; I thought he was going to ask for directions. I became suspicious when I saw the helmet. Suddenly, he jumped on me and grabbed my bag. I screamed, but no one heard. The other one came and started hitting me. They dragged me for 30 meters. In the end, they took the bag and escaped on a motorcycle."
"THEY TOOK MY HARD-EARNED MONEY BY FORCE"
Aydın, who was injured in the attack and is receiving treatment in the hospital, made a heartfelt appeal to the authorities through his tears:
"My 30-40 years of hard work disappeared in an instant. They shoved an object under my throat, and I still have bruises. I am very victimized. I am waiting for help from our government; may they hear our voices."
