The famous singer's lawyer, Zehra Mioui, announced that the punishment was carried out fully and completely. Nobel Peace Prize-winning journalist and activist Nargis Mohammadi reacted to the decision, stating, "Mehdi Yarrahi's flogging sentence was executed as revenge for the support he has given to Iranian women. Yarrahi's song in question was released in August 2023, and the singer was detained in the same month. The Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Yarrahi to two years and eight months in prison. The 42-year-old singer, who has already served one year in prison, had his remaining sentence converted to 74 lashes and a fine.
