Four people lost their lives due to an avalanche in the Alps in northern Italy. The number of fatalities from avalanches has risen to six in the last three days.
It has been reported that 4 people died as a result of avalanches in different parts of the Alps in northern Italy.
4 CASUALTIES IN AVALANCHE DISASTERS
In Italy, which has started hosting the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, avalanche disasters in three different locations have led to casualties. According to reports in the Italian press, in the Trentino region, one person from a team of 4 climbers died after being buried under an avalanche in the Bellamonte area.
Another avalanche incident occurred in the afternoon at the Punta Rocca-Marmolada area, where 1 climber also lost their life. The third avalanche incident of the day took place in Valtelline, located in the province of Sondrio within the northern region of Lombardy.
The Italian fire department announced that 2 of the 3 people affected by the avalanche in the Meriggio area of Valtelline died, while 1 person was rescued with injuries.
