A bank employee in İzmir, along with his family and friends, hijacked the bank's money collection vehicle. The suspects, who carried out a robbery worth 56 million Turkish lira, were caught after a month-long surveillance. Out of the 20 suspects, 4 were arrested, and 25 million lira of the stolen money was found buried at a country house.

In an incident that occurred on New Year's Eve in the Karşıyaka district of İzmir, 20 suspects who escaped with 56 million lira from an armored vehicle collecting money from Ziraat Bank branches were captured days later, and 4 of them were arrested by the court to which they were referred.

The incident took place on the night of December 31.

THEY BURIED 25 MILLION LIRA IN A VINEYARD HOUSE

According to the information obtained, the armored vehicle collecting money from Ziraat Bank branches was hijacked with 56 million TL inside. After the incident was noticed, the armored vehicle, which was learned to have no GPS device, was found abandoned in the Kemalpaşa district. The İzmir Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch teams launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Bank officials were consulted for the identification of the suspects who hijacked the armored vehicle, and security cameras were examined. Police teams determined that the individuals who hijacked the armored vehicle had gotten into another vehicle and went to a vineyard house in the Kemalpaşa district. As a result of the investigation, 25 million Turkish lira was found buried in the garden of the vineyard house.

MONEY WAS SEIZED

Taking advantage of the New Year's rush, the suspects who hijacked the bank armored vehicle were found to have buried money in the garden of the vineyard house and then escaped with foreign currency. Police teams identified the vehicle the suspects fled in. After days of technical and physical surveillance, the Public Order Branch teams captured the suspects in the Central Anatolia region. During the search of the vehicle, the money that was attempted to be taken as foreign currency was also seized. A total of 20 people were detained in connection with the incident. Of the suspects whose procedures were completed at the police station, 4 were arrested by the court to which they were referred.

ALL THE MONEY WAS DELIVERED TO THE BANK

Furthermore, it was learned that the person who carried out the incident was a bank employee, that the robbery was carried out with family members and friends, and that all the money in the vehicle was delivered to the bank without any issues after the operation. - IZMIR
