Hasan İ., who has attempted suicide hundreds of times in various cities across Turkey for various reasons, recently climbed to the roof of a five-story building in Manavgat. He was persuaded to come down after being promised that his demands would be met, and it was revealed that the liquid he was holding, which he claimed was "to set himself on fire," was actually urine.
Hasan İ., who staged hundreds of suicide attempts under various pretexts in many cities of Turkey, climbed to the roof of a 5-story building in Manavgat after Gazipaşa and Alanya.
With a knife in his hand, a rope around his neck, and gasoline in a plastic bottle, the individual who climbed to the roof of the 5-story building located on Hisar Street in Aşağı Hisar Neighborhood alarmed the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department, 112 Health teams, and teams from the Manavgat Police Department.
EFFORTS BY SECURITY FORCES TO PERSUADE
While the police teams took necessary security measures around the area, the fire department opened a rescue cushion under the building to prevent the individual from jumping. Health teams remained on alert for any potential negative situation. It was observed that a large portion of the crowd gathered on the street was live-streaming with their mobile phones, while the police officers on the roof made efforts to dissuade the individual from his decision. Teams from the Manavgat Police Department's Public Order Bureau climbed to the roof and did their best to persuade the individual, identified as Hasan İ. (33), to change his mind and come down.
PERSUADED IN 1 HOUR
Public Order Bureau Chief Sinan Karaman stated that Hasan İ., who said he worked at a hotel in Manavgat, had not received his payment and needed money to go to Muğla, was persuaded after he was promised that his requests would be met. The young man ended his action on the roof after about 1 hour, put down the knife and plastic bottle he was holding, and untied the ropes around his neck. While there were occasionally dangerous moments, the police warned the individual to be more careful.
DÜRÜM ORDERED
After Hasan İ. stated that he was hungry, a dürüm was ordered to the scene, and it was observed that the individual eagerly ate the dürüm after coming down.
LIQUID TURNED OUT TO BE URINE
On the other hand, it was determined that the liquid in the plastic bottle, which the individual claimed he would use to set himself on fire, was urine.
"REGARDS TO MY COMMISSIONER"
After long efforts, as Hasan İ. was taken by the police to the team vehicle, he said, "Regards to my Commissioner Mahmut from here. He saved my life." After a health check, Hasan İ. was taken to the Manavgat Police Department, where it was determined that he had over 250 records, most of which were related to suicide attempts.
