28.10.2024 10:30

A man with a knife who had been stalking two sisters in the Kağıthane district of Istanbul for four months was arrested after he showed up at their door. The harasser, who attempted to enter the house by saying, "Open the door, I know your mothers are not home, I love you," was captured on a cellphone camera in those moments, second by second.

A person with a knife in Kağıthane, Istanbul, harassed two sisters he had been following for about 4 months by knocking on their door and saying, "open the door, I love you." Following the complaint of the sisters, who claimed that the suspect had previously blown kisses at them from across the street, Selami B. was arrested for 'sexual harassment.' The incidents were captured on a mobile phone camera.

The incident occurred on Thursday, October 24, around 00:10 in the Şirintepe neighborhood. According to allegations, the sisters Meryem K. (25) and Rabia K. (27), who had been living together for a while because their families had gone to their hometown, began to be disturbed by Selami B. (53), who is married and has a child, about 4 months ago. Selami B., who appeared in front of the sisters and followed them, also harassed them by blowing kisses from his apartment to the sisters living in the apartment across the street a few days ago. Continuing to disturb them, Selami B. threw pieces of a hose into the sisters' apartment from his window to continue his harassment.

"OPEN THE DOOR, I LOVE YOU"

The sisters did not file any complaints, thinking that Selami B. was ill. However, last Thursday, Selami B. came out of his house with a knife and knocked on the door of the building where the sisters lived. He wanted to enter by saying to the sisters, "open the door, I know your parents are not home, I love you." Upon the sisters shouting from the window when they did not open the building's door, Selami B. ran back into his house. The incidents were captured on a mobile phone camera second by second.

After the incident, a police team was dispatched to the scene upon the sisters' complaint. The police from the Kağıthane Patrol Teams quickly arrived and detained Selami B., confiscating the knife he used in the incident. After the sisters filed a complaint, Selami B. was taken for questioning, and after legal proceedings, he was referred to the courthouse. It was learned that Selami B. stated in his testimony, "I did it in a moment of weakness." He was arrested by the court for 'sexual harassment.' It was also learned that the harassment suspect Selami B. had two records for 'intentional injury.'

"HE THREW HOSES INTO MY BEDROOM"

In her statement at the police station, the complainant Rabia K. said, "About 4-5 months ago, he started blowing kisses at me from the window. Later, he was disturbing me by cutting small hoses from his window and throwing them into my balcony and bedroom. When I came home from work, he would wait in front of the building and say he wanted to talk to me while blowing kisses. After we got home, he knocked on the door, but we didn't open it. I saw a man named Selami with a knife in his hand. He said to us, 'Open the door, I love you, I know your parents are not home.' I immediately called the police," it was learned.
