In Nigeria's Borno state, members of the terrorist group Boko Haram abducted a large number of students from a high school they stormed during an exam. One teacher was killed in the attack.
In an attack on a school by members of the terrorist organization Boko Haram in Borno state, northeastern Nigeria, many students were abducted.
THEY RAIDED DURING AN EXAM
According to reports in the national press, Boko Haram members raided a public high school in the town of Lassa in Borno state in the morning hours. The group members entered the school building and carried out an attack while a biology exam was being held, abducting numerous students.
Borno State Police Spokesperson Nahum Kenneth Daso confirmed the incident in a statement, saying the attackers infiltrated the area on motorcycles, taking advantage of the weekly market set up in Lassa.
MANY STUDENTS ABDUCTED
Daso stated that one teacher died in the attack and many students were abducted by the armed individuals. Expressing that security forces intervened against the attackers, Daso noted that this prevented the abduction of more students.
Tens of thousands of people have lost their lives in mass terror acts carried out by Boko Haram, which has been active in Nigeria since the early 2000s, particularly since 2009.
The terrorist organization has also carried out attacks in neighboring countries Cameroon, Chad, and Niger since 2015. At least 2,000 people have died in the group's attacks in the Lake Chad Basin. Hundreds of thousands of people have been forced to migrate due to terrorist attacks and conflicts in the country.
