The "jewelry system" established in Tekirdağ with promises of high profits turned into a massive fraud allegation that victimized hundreds of citizens. A famous jeweler, who gained trust by promising "10 gold coins per month to those who leave 1 kilogram of gold," allegedly vanished with millions of liras in collected savings. Seeing the shop closed and the owner unreachable, many victims—including doctors—filed criminal complaints with their promissory notes and documents.
Numerous citizens who claimed to have entrusted gold and money to a jeweler operating in the Süleymanpaşa district of Tekirdağ rushed to the police and courthouse after the business suddenly closed and the owner became unreachable. Consecutive criminal complaints were filed with the Public Prosecutor's Office against the jeweler, who is alleged to have swindled millions of liras with the promise 'leave 1 kilogram of gold, receive 10 gold coins each month.' Police teams have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
NUMBER OF VICTIMS INCREASES EVERY DAY
According to the allegations, a jeweler who had been operating in the district for a long time collected large amounts of gold and money from citizens with promises of high returns. Many individuals involved in the system recently noticed that the workplace was closed and the business owner was not answering calls. Hundreds of victims, unable to recover their entrusted savings, filed complaints with police units and the Public Prosecutor's Office. It was learned that while victims' statements are still being taken, the number of victims in the case file is increasing daily.
"I HANDED OVER ALL MY SAVINGS ENOUGH TO BUY A HOUSE, NOW I CANNOT REACH HIM"
Dr. Hande Çetindağ Kahya, one of the victims of the alleged massive fraud, stated that they have been subjected to stalling tactics for months and described her experience with these words:
"We brought our gold savings, which we had set aside to buy a house, to this jeweler to cash in. He said he didn't have that much cash on hand and told us, 'Come back in 2-3 days, I'll give you your money in Turkish lira.' Every time we went, he stalled us for months by saying 'come tomorrow,' 'come in 3-4 days.' In the end, not only did we not receive the equivalent of the gold we handed over, but now we cannot reach him at all."
"I HAVE A PROMISSORY NOTE AND A WRITTEN DOCUMENT"
Stating that they have suffered greatly both materially and morally, Kahya expressed trust in justice and said, "I have a significant loss. I handed over all my savings enough to buy a house. I have a promissory note and a written document supporting this incident. I request that authorities bring this matter to light with full transparency and remedy our grievances. We have initiated legal proceedings, and I believe justice will prevail."
As police teams continue their comprehensive investigation into the incident, the full extent of the victimization and the trace of the suspect jeweler will emerge as a result of the ongoing inquiry.
